Help with Childcare

If the school holidays have come upon your you’re no doubt packing your bags and swanning off to a hot climate somewhere to frolic in the sea and surf. If you’re self employed you may have organised a virtual assistant to keep your business “ticking over” in your absence.

What happens you get home though, and you need to get out to work. You may wonder then what can you do with the children? School is out, and the holiday clubs don’t last forever. If you are not fortunate enough to have family living nearby who can take the children, then you may need to consider alternative child care arrangements.

Sometimes the preschools are not always open during school holidays, or their opening times are not convenient to you. There are services out there that you can call on. The most known are those nannying agencies and individuals who advertise their nanny availability on the established magazine called “The Lady”. If you haven’t bought your latest copy then you can view their classifieds on their website.

There are many people advertising their services as a babysitter or nanny. If you find you are unsure about who to hire and who to trust, you may find the website of the National Childminder’s as a good resource. They have plenty of resources of parents.  You can read tips for employing a nanny and how to work with a childcare minder.

You will also find some helpful tips on the blog “The Nanny Doctor”, particularly the article with 10 safety tips for working with a Nanny.  Examples included providing your nanny with a cellphone and a house book containing all important numbers, allergies and information.
